With the current COVID 19 crisis there has been a reduction or suspension of much recycling collection.

  • Garden waste collection is suspended until further notice
  • Food waste should now be put in the refuse bin with collection fortnightly from week commencing 30th March– Pod should not be left out
  • Recycling bins will be emptied fortnightly commencing in the week of 6th April

On a brief general note our enquiries about recycling have uncovered that:

  • Some electronic and electrical waste is being put in general refuse and not placed for proper recycling through the local waste centre
  • In one instance a lawn mower was classed as “garden waste” – actually metal and electrical

So the message is that we all need to get better at separating metal, electrical and electronic items if we are to improve things, including stripping metals and plastics off furniture we are getting rid of.  This will not be done at the recycling centres and only contaminates the waste.  Please be aware of what you throw away.
